    Great video guys. I shoot in raw but also don’t spend much time editing generally. I actually start by pressing the ‘Auto’ button in Lightroom, which tends to get the exposure settings pretty much spot on most times. I regularly change the vibrancy & saturation, as Lightroom Auto tends to boost them too much.

    A couple of points. First, a raw file is an unprocessed image, which mean that all kinds of things haven't been baked in. This includes importantly black and white points, tone curves, colour balance and so on. Whet you do to a raw file is processing, not 'post-processing' (which would be what comes after processing). That's a small point. The bigger point is about exposure. Many photographers wrongly think that 'exposure' means how light or dark the image looks. It doesn't, it means how much light gets to the sensor. In a raw file you have complete control over how the exposure translates to how light or dark the final image looks (technically the 'lightness'). With a JPEG (so called) 'correct' exposure is one that produces 'correct' lightness, because the processing is fixed. With a raw file 'correct' exposure is the one that produces most scene information in the raw file, generally the largest exposure (most light) that you can get whilst keeping to your constraints for shutter speed and aperture (generally set by motion blur and DOF). For many scenes, ones without bright highlights this would lead to an exposure that would be 'overexposed' in JPEG. The easiest way to get this is ETTR using a histogram in your VF, if your camera gives that.

    Hi Matti and Peter, thank you for a nice video 😃 I am also a RAW shooter. I like to wait a bit before I upload and edit the photo images, it is a bit like in "the good old days" when I shot analog color slide film, you get the correct exposure and cropping in the Camera, waited for the film to be processed, which could be from about one hour in express professional processing or the cheaper way, where you could wait for one day or a few days, Black & White analog processing took longer time, which I did myself. When I got the color slide film back, I looked with a loupe or a special viewer for which photos to keep, cut those out of the film strip, set then in a slide holder and watch them in a slide projector, that could maybe take from 5 minute to half and hour, that is about the same time I use when I edit my digital photo images in software on my computer from one shoot, if I will make some photos Black & White I can use a little bit longer to get it "perfect" right. The biggest difference from the analog time to now, that is I have much more fun now with photography and I watch and enjoy my photos much more now.

    can agree that processing RAW is fun. its fun messing with black and white or the colour rendering in photolab. i do it on good photos ive taken but time to time the adjustments i do, when i paste them on to the other photos, they usually sometimes look far better than the initial one. so yeah, its fun iif you have the software you like doing it on.

    Hi Matti, I really enjoyed the chat you had with Peter. I sometimes turn a day photo into a night photo in post processing, it's a lot of fun. It was good to hear Peter say that he spends 30-60 Seconds on editing, some people spend a lot of there time editing. It was good to hear you say that you don't edit every photo you take Matti. • @mattisulanto
      @mattisulanto День назад

      Thanks! There is no rule for that. It depends on the size of the print, the subject matter of the photo and how the photographer wants to display his/her works. I generally like a fairly wide white border. I suggest you experiment and see what you like.

    Price is relative, but certainly people is not willing to pay more for the same 10 years old sensor, not BSI, not Stacked, not global Shutter, not bringing any real improvement in dynamic range, warping when moved quickly in video. Users are just tired of being offered reboxed cameras with almost no improvement, always made of crap plastics, not even address glaring issues, like the tripod mount breaking down in previous generations (OM5) Let's be honest. What is killing M43 is not the size of the sensor, but technology a decade behind what we see offered in the FF market. I have the EM5mkll since it was launched and I still remember how ahead of the times it was: first to have Live Time and Live composite, first to have High Resolution, compact, fast, feature complete, fast shooting, built like a tank, small, with good batteries, a large viewfinder and a high resolution side hinged backscreen, mirrorless, while being weather sealed. No FF was even close to those technologies, whatever the price, and everyone copied that EM5Mkll in the following years. Every product photographer had one for macro work back then. Thanks to its lens adapting ability. It was just 1150€ at the time, which was a perfectly acceptable price for those coming from an entry level DSLR.

    50 for me. It has the right amount of background compression and the face is not as distorted as with the 35mm. Plus bokeh at 35 is good but 50mm bokeh is better in my eyes. Bought the Samyang 50mm 1.4 II at a good price. Not the fastest AF but managable. And great price. My most used lens.

    I traveled for three weeks in Vietnam and Cambodia with the EM-1 Mark III and the EM5 Mark III. I took the 12-100mm F4, 12-45mm F4 Pro, 25mm F1.2, and 70-300mm lenses with me, but the most used one was the 12-100mm F4. After two weeks of travel, I was so exhausted from carrying the EM1 Mark III with the 12-100mm lens that I switched to the EM5 Mark III with the 12-45mm F4 and never looked back. That combination was so fun to use and reminded me of what MFT was all about. It is a shame that both Olympus and Panasonic drifted away from the MFT ethos when they decided to compete with full-frame cameras head-to-head. That’s what doomed them, especially Olympus, because at least Panasonic had the video makers' market. Nowadays, I don't see any reason to buy an MFT camera unless you are a dead-serious videographer. Maybe one day we will see a GX9II or LX100 Mark III from Panasonic or a baby OM-1 from OM Systems, but the chances of that are close to zero.

    I bought the Viltrox 23mm F1.4, quite unsure if I shouldn't have bought 27mm f1.2... But after a few days, that lens was a pretty permanent fixture on my A6700. Its quite a good lens for small money! missing seals are unfortunate though. But its a fabulous good weather choice. I never found enough impressive photos from the 27mm f1.2, to buy that lens yet. I just did order the 75mm f1.2

    The problem for me when looking at an mtf camera is that they simply are too close in price to larger sensors. The physical size isn't that dissimilar either anymore, meaning you need to find some kind of specific value in the smaller sensor as an advantage in order to really make it worthwhile. Either the telephoto reach or the deeper DOF for macro, the faster readout speeds for video or something to that effect, otherwise for a similar cost and size/weight you could have a bigger sensor and it just doesn't make sense to not buy that larger sensor otherwise

      Unfortunately I have never used the G100D and therefore no settings video either. I'm also not a brand ambassador any more so probably no such video coming up. However, Lumix cameras tend to be very similar and I'm sure you can get fairly good ideas in this video, for example.

    Unfortunately Arca Swiss is just a quick release system, but there is no standard for the size? There might be compatibility issue if using multiple products from different manufacturers.

    Its so lovely to here you talk nicly about MFT. Yes, you are right, its fun, its against the mainstream, but fun and easy. Its good enough, but MFT lacks a corner right now. I really want a street photo campaign. A cooperative campaign among the manufacturers. Unfortunatelly its late in the summer now to start ut, so next spring. Well, campaign centered around Leica D-Lux8, a similar Leica with lens mount, Lumix cameras that is like the S9 and one as the ricoh GR3, but in MFT of course, and some other tiny fun cameras and social mecia video centric tinys, Olympus with PEN-F2pro, PEN-M3, PEN-L12, OM-10 and a cheep stripped version maybe called OM-50. and a vlogging camera PEN-V(?) with mostly vlogging centric best OM IBIS and light as a PEL-L12. and I also want Olympus sorry OMDS to make a GR3 competitor with top IBIS, fixed 1,8 lens, and classic oly style. Together with this, i wish that all MFT lens manufacturers make one or two tiny lenses, OM of course weather sealed, and Leica as their speciality quality, metal, style. And Sigma and Lumix with what they are good at. I want it to arrive with a bang this comming winter and spring. Ohh, please Camera God. I pray for this. Give the world this peacefull and joyfull tiny world. I am so sad that OM System dont compete in tiny PEN world right now (sorry Oly PEN-EP7)

    Hi Matti, thanks for having variety on you Channel, it was nice to see this Heipi W28 Tripod. The dedicated phone Clamp is a great idea especially the Panoramic feature. As most Smartphones have a Panoramic Mode. Doing panoramic shots hand held doesn't always produce good results but with this Panoramic setting you will have less blurry photos than hand held. Nice one Matti, thankyou. 😊

      It’s nice to see an updated review of this tripod, I actually have one and it’s a lite, rugged and well thought out piece of gear. I mount a Sony A7Rv on it for long exposure such as waterfalls. It packs well and the small ‘transformer’ tripod is also convenient, as you can just keep the camera attached to the whole unit while getting the shots you need, no remounting the camera, no need for a second mini tripod. Thanks

    It is rare that I use tripod, I do some times use it for fx night photography. Now when I have the Sony A7RV with improved IBIS I use tripod even less. The Arca Swiss system are not my "cup of tea", there are better systems, which are more secure and easier to use. For tripod photography I use the excellent Novoflex system. Have a nice weekend Matti ☺

      @mattisulanto seems like this lens did something offensive to them in a past life, lol. I get where you were going with calling it compact. I own the Sigma 150-600 and wish I could fit it into a smaller bag I usually carry with two other lenses. This (like the old 70 - 300mm) seems like the lens that would allow me to fit it into that small bag and give me a decent amount of range.
